Face painting is an exciting and fun activity enjoyed by kids of all ages! There are few moments more exciting and rewarding in life than seeing the variety of excited expressions on kids' faces as they see the amazing artwork on their face. Girls have the opportunity to become princesses and butterflies and beautiful creatures in their eyes. Boys live out their wild side as superheros, wild animals, camo soldiers, dragons, and other exciting adventure characters. Full-face designs take 4-8 minutes and you should plan for approximately 8-10 kids per hour.
I paint a large variety of full-face designs ranging from beautiful butterflies to wild tigers and everything in between! These designs are all created with professional water-based makeup that is hypo-allergenic and easily washable! I use products produced by Mehron, Kryolan, Silly Farm Supplies, Ben Nye, Snazaroo, and Amerikan Body Art. All products are latex-free and no craft paints are ever used for face painting. Acrylic and tempera craft paints, while non-toxic, are not designed, tested, or approved for use on skin. ASTM non-toxic classification does not provide any information about suitability of a product for a given purpose, nor does it provide information about how a product will react with human skin. Be sure anyone you hire for face painting or body art makes the commitment to use only products intended and tested for use on human skin! That is the minimum standard I maintain. I also maintain cleanliness standards suggested by the manufacturers, and all water-based cake makeup is anti-bacterial to prevent the spread of infection.
Another cool service that I offer, for an additional charge, are "glitter tattoos". Glitter tattoos offer a somewhat different twist for situations where something that kids can take home and keep for a few days is desired. Glitter tattoos are also very water-resistant and will survive pool parties as long as they are allowed to dry and set before the kid gets back in the pool. Glitter tattoos are *not* transfer-style temporary tattoos. They are made with cosmetic grade glitter and Kryolan's Prosthetic Adhesive #2 - a long lasting adhesive designed for use by makeup artists for adhering objects (in this case, glitter) to the skin. If you desire to remove glitter tattoos before they naturally wear off, use baby oil and gentle rubbing. Glitter tattoos take about 2 minutes to apply and you should plan for approximately 30 kids per hour.
Another special event that I can arrange is a blacklight party. These events also have additional costs above and beyond my normal charges for face painting. I bring the theatrical special effects blacklight, UV reactive makeup for face painting that glows, and UV reactive twisting balloons for balloon creations. I also am able to help consult for decoration at these events, as you need to think outside the box to create an environment that is truly exciting under the blacklights. The effort involved is substantial, and all need to be committed to the level of effort involved, but the reward is an amazingly unique and unforgettable experience! Finally, I offer balloon twisting as an addition or alternative to face painting. I do simple balloon animals, hats, butterfly wings, and other objects that add an extra little fun twist to your party. Balloons are made of natural rubber latex. They take 2-3 minutes each to create, depending on how many balloons are in a design, and I suggest planning 20-30 kids per hour. If you choose to combine balloon twisting and face painting (the most common application of balloon twisting) then you should plan for 6-8 kids per hour.
